Description

The EQXRA82 is a relay and analog-output expansion module designed to extend the EQSP32 Industrial IoT controller with both switching and proportional control capabilities. Each module adds 8 relay outputs and 2 calibrated 0–10 V analog output channels, combining relay switching and precision 0–10 V control with actual-output feedback, per-channel diagnostics, relay supply monitoring, independent watchdog supervision and automatic safe-state handling in a compact DIN-rail module.

This combination makes the EQXRA82 ideal for automation panels that need both ON/OFF switching and proportional 0–10 V control. Typical applications include HVAC control, pump and fan systems, valve control, VFD speed references, damper actuators, alarms, lighting stages, interlock signals, water treatment systems, machine control, and other mixed-output automation tasks.

The relay section provides 8 electromagnetic SPST-NO relay outputs for switching external control circuits and automation loads. Each relay contact is rated up to 5 A at 277 VAC or 3 A at 30 VDC. Relay 1 and Relay 2 provide independent common terminals, while Relays 3–8 are arranged in shared-common pairs for compact wiring. Relay operation is supervised by the module firmware, with relay coil supply monitoring and safe-state behavior to help prevent unintended operation during startup, supply faults, watchdog trips, or communication loss. In safe-state conditions, the relay coils are de-energized and the relay contacts return to their normally-open state. The relay coils are powered directly through the EQSP32 expansion connector, eliminating the need for a separate relay coil power supply or additional power wiring.

The analog output section provides 2 calibrated 0–10 V outputs, controlled directly in millivolts from 0 to 10000 mV. In normal analog output (AOUT) mode, each new analog output value is applied immediately and independently per channel. In synchronous analog output (SAOUT) mode, the requested analog output values are staged and synchronously applied to all analog output channels triggered by the application code. This allows the same module to support both simple independent analog control and coordinated multi-channel analog updates.

Each analog output includes diagnostic feedback monitoring from the output side, allowing the system to supervise the actual output behavior, with the measured output voltage readable per channel in millivolts. The analog output channels include hardware overcurrent and short-circuit protection, actual output feedback, together with firmware-monitored fault handling for abnormal conditions such as short-circuit, overvoltage, or excessive deviation from the commanded target.

The EQXRA82 also provides compact status reporting through the EQSP32 library, allowing the user program to monitor system-level faults and analog-output-specific fault conditions, and to identify which channel and which fault without additional sensors. Three independent watchdogs are available: a system watchdog that supervises the communication link with the EQSP32, and opt-in relay command and analog output command watchdogs that move outputs to safe states if the application itself stops issuing commands. Together these make the module suitable for safer automation designs where predictable output behavior is required.

Like all EQX expansion modules, the EQXRA82 is powered and controlled through the EQSP32 expansion connector, automatically detected and indexed by the EQSP32 at power-up, and operated through the standard EQSP32 library API. Firmware updates are supported through the front-facing USB-C port, and integration is further simplified through EQ-AI code generation support.

Key Features of EQXRA82

  • 8 Electromagnetic Relay Outputs: SPST-NO relay outputs for switching external control circuits and automation loads.
  • Relay Contact Rating: Each relay contact is rated up to 5 A at 277 VAC or 3 A at 30 VDC.
  • Independent and Shared Common Terminals: Relay 1 and Relay 2 provide independent common terminals, while Relays 3–8 are arranged in shared-common pairs for compact wiring.
  • 2 Calibrated Analog Outputs: Two calibrated 12-bit, 0-10 V analog output channels for proportional control applications.
  • Millivolt-Based AOUT Control: Analog output values are controlled directly from 0 to 10000 mV.
  • AOUT Immediate Update Mode: Normal AOUT mode applies each new analog output value immediately and independently per channel.
  • SAOUT Synchronous Update Mode: Sync analog output mode stages the latest analog output values and applies them synchronously when triggered by the developer’s code.
  • Protected Analog Output Channels: Analog outputs include hardware short-circuit and overcurrent protection for improved robustness.
  • Analog Output Feedback Monitoring: Diagnostic feedback allows the system to monitor actual analog output behavior, readable per channel in millivolts.
  • Configurable Deviation Detection: Output deviation detection is configurable per channel and is enabled by default at 250 mV / 500 ms.
  • Relay Supply Monitoring: Relay coil supply voltage is readable in millivolts and monitored for undervoltage and overvoltage conditions, with automatic safe-state handling.
  • Watchdog Supervision: Three independent watchdogs — system, relay command, and per-channel analog output command — move outputs to safe states if communication or user-command updates stop.
  • Safe-State Handling: Relay coils are de-energized and analog outputs are set to 0 mV during startup or protection events.
  • Status Reporting: System and per-channel analog-output status values are available through the EQSP32 library, identifying which channel and which fault.
  • Automatic EQSP32 Detection: The module is automatically detected and indexed by the EQSP32 at power-up.
  • Seamless EQSP32 API Integration: Relay outputs, analog outputs, feedback, and status values are accessed through the standard EQSP32 library API.
  • Field-Upgradable Firmware: Firmware updates are supported through the front-facing USB-C port.
  • DIN-Rail Installation: Compact EQX expansion-module format for clean control-cabinet installation.
  • EQ-AI Support: Integration and application code generation are simplified through EQ-AI support.
