Description

The EQXAI is an 8-channel analog input, DIN rail, expansion module designed to bring high-precision voltage and current measurement capabilities to the EQSP32 Industrial IoT controller. Each of the eight input channels can be individually configured for 0–10 V voltage sensing (AIN mode) or 4–20 mA current-loop sensing (CIN mode), allowing a single module to support mixed sensor types simultaneously.

To achieve high measurement stability, EQXAI combines its 12-bit ADC with hardware RC filtering, precision voltage-reference conditioning, and software oversampling techniques to reach up to 14-bit effective resolution. The eight channels are sampled sequentially in two independently updated groups (CH1–4 and CH5–8), allowing parallel acquisition across both groups. This architecture provides efficient, low-noise measurements while maintaining a high update rate suitable for demanding industrial monitoring applications.

The EQXAI implements dedicated over-current protection for CIN channels, where an internal mechanism automatically isolates the precision shunt resistor when input current exceeds 21 mA. This prevents thermal stress and long-term degradation of the sensing resistor, ensuring consistent measurement accuracy over the module’s lifetime. The system periodically checks whether the over-current condition has cleared and safely reconnects the shunt resistor once normal operating levels are restored, guaranteeing robust operation even under demanding field conditions.

Each module is factory zero-calibrated to guarantee optimal accuracy out of the box. Users may also perform a zero-calibration at any time for applications requiring field alignment. To avoid unintended calibration corruption, the module validates every calibration attempt: results with excessive deviation or readings that are not sufficiently close to ground reference are automatically rejected. This protective mechanism ensures that calibration remains reliable, stable, and resistant to accidental misconfiguration.

Like all EQ expansion modules, EQXAI is housed in the standard DIN-rail enclosure offering a uniform and compact form factor. It is auto-detected by the EQSP32 upon power-up, requires no external power supply, and supports field-upgradeable firmware through its front-facing USB-C port. Complete integration is further supported by EQ-AI generative AI model, enabling code generation and setup simply by describing your wiring or desired functionality.

The result is a highly flexible, precision analog input module ideal for monitoring industrial sensors, environmental measurements, process values, and any application requiring accurate multi-channel analog acquisition.
