Description
EQSP32CL-X is a next-generation, industrial-grade ESP32-S3 PLC built around the powerful 240 MHz dual-core ESP32-S3 SoC with 512 kB RAM and 8 MB Flash, combining high I/O density, advanced wireless connectivity, and flexible software-defined functionality for Industrial IoT applications. Equipped with an external antenna Semtech SX1262 LoRa® radio, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth® Low Energy, EQSP32CL-X is designed for long-range wireless communication, custom industrial networking and smart automation deployments.
This controller features 16 universal I/O terminals, all fully configurable in software. Each terminal can operate as a digital input, solid-state output, switch input with customizable debounce timing, or custom implementations. For applications requiring analog sensor integration, pins 1 to 8 support advanced analog input modes including 0–10 V voltage input, 4–20 mA, 0-20mA current loop input and thermistor-based temperature sensing.
Industrial communication is seamless with native RS232, RS485 (half-duplex), and CAN-Bus interfaces, enabling implementation of widely used protocols such as Modbus RTU, DMX512, CANopen and other custom serial protocols. This makes EQSP32CL-X well suited for integration into a wide variety of industrial control, monitoring, and automation systems.
Its modular expansion system further increases platform flexibility with support for specialized add-on modules including digital I/O expansion (EQXIO), analog input expansion (EQXAI), PT100 RTD sensing (EQXPT), thermocouple measurement (EQXTC), 2G connectivity (EQX2G-X), and pH monitoring (EQXPH). These are handled through an internal automatic addressing and characterization architecture, making it easier to scale installations and simplify device mapping.
At the heart of its long-range wireless capability is the Semtech SX1262 LoRa® transceiver, selected for strong link performance and reliable operation in demanding industrial environments. With high receiver sensitivity and up to +22 dBm transmit capability, it provides a solid foundation for stable communication across distributed systems. This makes EQSP32CL-X especially suitable for custom industrial wireless networks, remote monitoring, and long-range control applications.
Built on the same platform concept as the other EQSP32 variants, EQSP32CL-X integrates LoRa using one of the system SPI interfaces while leaving one SPI interface available for the developer. For applications requiring higher-level protocol stacks, LoRaWAN may be implemented in firmware or by using third-party libraries.
The built-in MQTT integration features a predefined topic structure, making EQSP32CL-X instantly compatible with Node-RED workflows and enabling automatic discovery in Home Assistant with no manual configuration required. With the EQConnect mobile app, users can provision Wi-Fi credentials, configure timezones, and monitor both I/O states and modes in real time.
EQSP32CL-X may be programmed via the front-facing USB-C programming port using Arduino IDE, and Visual Studio Code. Enhanced by the intelligent EQ-AI assistant, developers can auto-generate setup code from wiring diagrams or plain-English descriptions, optimize performance, and debug logical or functional issues. EQ-AI provides guided support through every stage of development, from concept to deployment.
EQSP32CL-X offers the power and flexibility of an embedded controller with the convenience and reliability of an industrial-grade PLC, making it an excellent choice for smart automation, remote monitoring, and long-range Industrial IoT applications.
